Introduction
The Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros (CEPE) at UNAM was created in 1921 to function as an academic link between Mexico and the international community by teaching Spanish language and Mexican culture. CEPE currently has three branches: Ciudad Universitaria, Polanco and Taxco.
In November 2000, CEPE opened its branch in Polanco with the intention of satisfying the Spanish and Mexican culture courses to students from abroad. CEPE Polanco upholds the presence of UNAM in the most international areas within Mexico City since it is located near most embassies and multinational companies.
CEPE Polanco offers face-to-face courses in Spanish and Mexican culture, with ideal facilities for teaching the Spanish language and Mexican culture in a personalized way, with a small number of learners per group. The courses taken at CEPE are recognized by many universities worldwide. Our teachers are professionals in teaching Spanish as a second language, having been trained at our university along with a wide breadth of experience in the field. Our students come from all over the world and many of them are diplomats or work in overseas companies in the area.
Mission
The mission of the Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros (CEPE) in Polanco is and has always been to teach Spanish as a foreign language to students from all over the world, as well as to promote knowledge of the history, art and culture of Mexico. Therefore, our academic programs are focused on the Spanish language from a wide and varied point of view, using the diverse cultural expressions of the Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas. It is our objective to provide the students with the necessary tools so that they can develop proficiency in the Spanish language, whether in professional or everyday use.
